For how long do my people have to be labeled as “suffering” before others begin to accredit our advancement and success? And for how long do my people have to allow misconstrued media messages to manifest in the minds of others about how poor we are? These images illustrate the the ugly and neglect the beauty. When does the time come that ignorance is no longer tolerated? And others open their eyes to the riches of Africa that for so long have been suffocating from corruption, exploitation and the greed of others but are now arising to breathe fresh air? For how long? When I say that Africa is Done Suffering, I’m not claiming that poverty is no more. I am claiming the wealth has proven itself to be amongst us but others refuse to see. I am claiming our progression from struggles of the past. Troubles don’t last always, so why is it that Africa has been tagged this handicapped continent that has no capability of rehabilitation? Is it wrong for me to demand better for my people? Is it offensive that I brag on our wealth instead of crying about bankruptcy? For how long do they expect us to struggle? For how long?
