I feel the same way about alot of things like this. The black woman is constantly ignored as being beautiful in the media. We are either fat and sassy or hyper-sexed. But everything about us is snatched up by white folks as if they suddenly discovered it without them acknowledging black beauty in all its forms. 

Because Angelina Jolie has big lips… they are injecting their lips. Black women have big breasts so they run out and get breast implants.We have skin in a variety of beautiful hues from caramel to chocolate. So they go out and lay in the tanning beds. Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian have big butts so they run out and get butt implants. Beyonce has the same curvy body and rounded butt, and she is deemed to be too sexy. It is to the point that they won’t even show Beyonce’s perfume commercial on tv. But if Kim Kardashian had the same commercial it would have been played on tv every five minutes. 

Kim Kardashian gets cornrows and all of a sudden it is a trend. Now white women will be running around with braided hairstyles as if they conjured up the whole natural hair movement. With all of this changing and rearranging of their bodies, they will eventually look like the very thing they choose to ignore….a black woman. White men are guilty of this shit too. I remember seeing way too many white men running around with cornrows because of Allen Iverson, and Justin Timberlake didn’t help the situation when he got cornrows too.

All I am saying is that if you are going to love everything about us, to the point that you are willing to rearrange your bodies at least give us some respect when dealing with us. Also, it wouldn’t hurt to have black people recognized  in the media in a more positive way.

Phylicia Barnes went missing two days ago.

I don’t know all of the details because I don’t personally know her but one of my friends is really upset over it and any kind of help would be really appreciated.

She lives around the Monroe/Charlotte NC area, but she has family in Atlanta, Georgia so she could really be anywhere.

I always reblog these when they come up on my dash. Any decent human would do the same.
